Country not listed? We work there too. Call for a price.

Prices are in euros and cover the whole journey home, until the deceased is handed over to the family in Ukraine. Moldova and Egypt have no price on the site: we give you the price once we know the route. For other destinations, see repatriation from other countries.

We work out your price

Call or leave your number.

What the price includes

The price includes:

  • contact with the hospital and the morgue
  • local, consular and border documents
  • preparing the body for the journey
  • hermetic coffin, soldered zinc liner
  • sealing as the border requires
  • transport by road, or part of the way by air, whichever is faster and better value for you
  • handover to the family in your town

Farewell coffin: quoted separately.

Put simply: from the moment you call us until the deceased is handed over to the family in Ukraine, we handle the case. Even where the law requires a licensed funeral home, we run the case ourselves. You do not need to find anyone. What the repatriation involves →

What is separate

A funeral in Ukraine (the farewell, a priest, a place at the cemetery, the memorial meal) is not included in the transport price. It is a separate service; we can take it on anywhere in Ukraine. Funerals across Ukraine →

Before any work starts, we tell you exactly what your amount includes and what it does not.

How to pay

We work under a contract that sets the amount and the payment schedule. Terms depend on the service:

  • Repatriation and transport within Ukraine: either 50% at the start and 50% after completion, or 100% at the start. The contract says which.
  • Organisational services (a funeral, a farewell hall and so on): a minimum prepayment of 25%, especially when we book something in advance.

What the exact price depends on

The “from” price is the simplest case. Here is what can change it:

  • The city and the distance. Collecting from a city near the border and from the other end of the country are different journeys.
  • The route: by road or by air. From countries further away, part of the journey is by plane to an airport near Ukraine, then by road.
  • Documents. Each country has its own offices and its own procedure. For example, in England the coroner must approve taking the body out of the country, and in Italy a violent death also needs a permit from the judicial authorities.
  • Preparing the body. Some countries and airlines require embalming. For example, in Romania it is mandatory for transport outside the city where the death occurred.
  • The coffin. The body must arrive at the Ukrainian border in a sealed metal coffin. A coffin with a zinc liner is already included in the “from” price. If you would like a different coffin, for example for the farewell, we will find one and tell you the price.
  • How many days the body waits for documents. Storage at the morgue may be charged, so fast documents also save money.

We will tell you your amount once we know the city and the documents.

How we give you the price in 5 minutes

Call or write to us on Viber, WhatsApp or Telegram. We will ask five things:

  1. The country and city where the person died.
  2. Where the body is now: a hospital, a morgue or at home.
  3. Which documents you already have.
  4. Whether the person had insurance.
  5. Where in Ukraine to bring the deceased.

If you do not know something, that is all right: we will find out ourselves. Then we will tell you the amount and what to do next.

Bringing home an urn with ashes: from €100

If cremation has already taken place abroad, bringing the urn home is simpler than transporting the body. The price depends on the country the urn is in: from €100. The price for each country is in the table above.

At the Ukrainian border, an urn needs the same documents as a body: a death certificate and a certificate from the authority of the country of death that the urn contains no prohibited items. The Ukrainian consulate legalises this certificate. We pack the urn so that it cannot break on the way.

More about transporting an urn →

Insurance and who pays

Usually the family pays for the transport. But it is worth checking whether insurance can help.

  • If the person had a policy that covers repatriation, the insurer arranges the transport through its assistance service. It all starts once there is a death certificate.
  • Tell us about the policy on the first call: the transport must be agreed with the insurer, otherwise it may refuse to pay. We will contact the insurer ourselves and check the terms.
  • A policy often covers the journey only as far as the border or a transport hub in Ukraine. The family usually pays for the funeral at home.
  • Repatriation limits vary a lot between policies. Send us a photo of the policy and we will check it.

Two more things people often do not know. Registering the death at the Ukrainian consulate and the first certificate are free of consular fees. And with the certificate the consul issues at registration, the family in Ukraine can apply for the funeral allowance. More on who pays for bringing a body home and on insurance.

How not to overpay

  • First the call, then the signature. Call us straight away, day or night. Do not agree to a local funeral home's services until you know the full price to Ukraine.
  • Ask what the amount includes. A price “to the border” and a price “to your home” are different things. Our “from” price covers the whole journey home, until the deceased is handed over to the family in Ukraine.
  • Keep all bills and receipts. You will need them for the insurer, the employer or the social fund of the country where the person worked, and for the funeral allowance in Ukraine.
  • Do not delay the documents. The sooner the papers are ready, the fewer days the body waits at the morgue.

Questions about the price

Do you sign a contract? Can the price change?

Yes, we work under a contract. First we give you the price for your case and fix it in the contract before the transport starts. Payment for repatriation: 50% at the start and 50% after completion, or 100% at the start; we write this into the contract. For organisational services, such as a funeral, a prepayment of at least 25% is required, especially when we book something in advance.

How much does it cost to bring the deceased home to Ukraine?

It depends on the country. Our “from” prices for the whole journey home are in the price table. We will give you the exact amount for your case when we speak: +380 77 882 77 77.

What is included in the price?

Everything needed to bring your loved one home: work with the morgue and the local documents, preparing the body, a coffin with a zinc liner, the journey to your town in Ukraine and handing the deceased over to the family. The full list is in the section What the price includes. The funeral in Ukraine comes on top, as a separate service.

Is the funeral included in the price?

No. The funeral is charged separately. If you want us to organise it too, we give its cost as a separate line.

What does the exact price depend on?

On the city we collect from, the documents the country requires, and the type of transport: by road or with an air leg. Even within one country, the road to the border and the local offices differ from city to city. So we give you the exact amount as soon as we know the city and the documents.

My country is not in the price table. Do you work there?

Yes. We bring people home from there too. Call us and we will tell you the price and the route. See also Repatriation of the deceased from other countries to Ukraine.

Do you transport by plane or by road?

From neighbouring countries (Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova) we go by road. From countries further away, part of the journey is by plane to an airport near Ukraine, and then our vehicle takes over. We will tell you which route suits your case during the call.

Who pays for the transport?

Usually the family. If the person had an insurance policy that covers transport of the body, the insurer may pay part of the cost. But a policy often covers the journey only as far as the border or a transport hub in Ukraine. We will check the terms together with you.

Will insurance cover the transport?

It may, if the policy covers repatriation of the body. Send us a photo of the policy. We will check the terms and deal with the insurer ourselves, so you do not lose the cover. Often a policy pays only as far as the border. We will tell you about the rest in advance. More in the article Insurance and bringing a body home from abroad.

How can I pay?

You can pay by bank transfer, through payment systems, or in cash at the XREQUIEM office. We tell you the amount and what it includes before any work starts. Get a price.

Is there a state funeral allowance?

When the death is registered, the consul issues a certificate for the social protection authorities. With it, the family applies for the funeral allowance in Ukraine.

Is the first consultation free?

Yes, the first phone consultation is free. Payment terms are set out above, under “How to pay”.

How much does it cost to bring home an urn with ashes?

The price is from €100, depending on the country; from the USA it is from €3,400. It is a separate service, simpler and cheaper than transporting the body.
